Clare is Director of the Leicester Institute for Advanced Studies and an advocate for interdisciplinary research. Her area of research expertise is the history and legacies of empires, especially in relation to colonial prisons, penal colonies, forced labour and enslavement. Clare has led large-scale multidisciplinary research projects, funded by ESRC, ERC, the BA and the Leverhulme Trust, and collaborates with colleagues from the social sciences as well as NGOs and government. Clare brings her experience of nurturing interdisciplinary collaborations to the landscape decisions team to assist with the effective integration of disciplines across the portfolio of projects.
